Revaginal Gel addresses vaginal dryness and vulvovaginal discomfort without hormonal therapy
Vaginal dryness is a condition affecting the majority of menopausal women, yet it is treated in fewer than one in three cases. Not because treatment options are unavailable, but because many women remain unaware of effective non-hormonal alternatives.

Revaginal Gel: formulation and mechanism of action
Revaginal Gel is a Class IIa medical device in vaginal gel form, manufactured by Gruppo Farmaimpresa. Available in single-dose format with 6 applicators of 5 ml and in multi-dose format in a 30 ml tube, it is indicated for vaginal dryness and atrophy, vulvovaginal discomfort, bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis in combination with specific therapies.
The hydroxyethylcellulose matrix provides the gel consistency and ensures adhesion to the vaginal mucosa, evenly distributing the active components and prolonging contact with the epithelium. Within this base, ingredients with distinct and complementary functions work together:
- Sodium hyaluronate: prolonged mucosal hydration with high water retention capacity, reduction of burning and support for tissue trophism.
- Lactic acid: rapid restoration of pH to 3.5, the physiological value essential for Lactobacilli survival and resistance to vaginal infections.
- Essential fatty acids (arachidonic, linoleic, linolenic): support for the structural integrity of epithelial cell membranes.
- Vitamin E and Vitamin A: antioxidant protection and regenerative action on mucosal tissue.
- Botanical complex (Aloe Barbadensis, Chamomilla recutita, Calendula officinalis, Lavandula angustifolia, Ribes Nigrum): soothing, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant local action for the immediate comfort of the irritated mucosa.
The result is a formulation that simultaneously acts on hydration, pH, cell integrity and local inflammation: an approach that treats the problem in its complexity, not just the most obvious symptom.
The clinical study: results in post-menopausal patients
The efficacy of Revaginal Gel was evaluated in a prospective clinical study on 20 women with post-menopausal vulvovaginal disorders, treated for two consecutive weeks. Symptoms were measured using the VSQ Questionnaire, a validated tool for assessing subjective vulvovaginal discomfort. Results recorded at the end of treatment:
- Dryness: -50%
- Burning: -80%
- Irritation: -89%
- Itching: -94%
- Pain: -100%
- Intimate desire: +60%
The data document a rapid and progressive improvement across all symptom parameters, with complete elimination of pain within just two weeks. The tolerability profile is confirmed by biocompatibility tests: non-cytotoxic, non-irritating, non-sensitising.
Not just dryness
Women with vaginal dryness frequently present, within the same clinical context, episodes of recurrent urinary tract infections. The link is not coincidental: the alteration of vaginal pH, the reduction of Lactobacilli and the thinning of the mucosa create the conditions for bacterial colonisation that, in many cases, also involves the lower urinary tract. Addressing only the local component means treating half the problem.
Cranberry is recognised in the scientific literature as a useful support for reducing the frequency of recurrent urinary tract infections, thanks to proanthocyanidins that counteract bacterial adhesion to the walls of the urinary tract.
